CONTEST TIME...and my *little lions*

Tonight while tucking A and J into bed...I read "Johnny Lion's Book" for the 6001st time. I'm not kidding...seriously. I can't even tell you what that book has been through at our house. You would be disgusted I'm sure. It isn't the well-written prose by Edith Thacher Hurd that compels us to read on...nor the 2-tone pencil drawing illustrations...both are equally awful. There are no charming "Seussical" rhymes or metaphors that ask us to look deep within. Just a really boring story about a little lion...his fairly lame adventures...and paragraphs of repetitive sentence structure (I have mentioned that we have a bit of lion fascination at our house haven't I?) Yet my girls have some sort of inborn fascination with this book. As you can see from the picture...it is in sad shape. It has been scotch taped, duck taped, and glued. I once thought about buying another copy on ebay...but then...I would have a back-up copy...and I'm truly hoping someday this book will magically disappear! It isn't that my youngsters don't have quality literature. They have bookshelves full of wonderfully compelling stories. They just LIKE "Johnny Lion's Book".

You may be asking...WHAT about the CONTEST...have no fear...I'm getting there!
THE CONTEST:
One LUCKY winner will receive a CUSTOM *take a bow* tee!!! Hoodie, ringer, babydoll, tank... your choice of style and fabric!
THE RULES:
1. Read this post and make a comment about your child's favorite book. (if you don't have a child in your life there is probably no need to post...you wouldn't look all that great in the tee anyways!)
2. Go to your local library and check out a copy of "Johnny Lion's Book"....JUST KIDDING...I wouldn't do that to you ;)
3. Stop back in next week when I announce the LUCKY WINNER of a FREE TEE!

You won't win unless you post. All postings will go into a hat and one of my very own *little lions* might draw YOUR NAME! Imagine the excitement :)

I have never read that book but Lauren's favorite book now is the Great Blue Panda. I don't mind reading it as it teaches her not to tell Fibs.

I haven't heard of that book. But the favorite around here is "Pinkalicious" I think it's because it's all pink, about pink, and uses words like Pinkerella and Pinkerbelle.... LOL

We have never read that book, but it sounds like you kind of feel about it the way I feel about the Little Red Hen. LOL

Thank goodness Camilla's favorite is Time For Bed by Mem Fox, which I love dearly.

That book looks cute! I've never seen it before. I think we need to pick up "Pinkalicious" though, we are crazy about pink here. E's favorite baby is named "Pink Baby."

Our favorite is "Little Bunny Follows His Nose" It's a scratch and sniff book like my favorite from my childhood "The Swet Smells of Christmas." My girls first learned that their noses were for smelling from this book. I will never forget that!

Ok, I hate to admit it, but we too have a book here at our house in the same condition, lol! My girls LOVE, I MEAN LOVE Good Night Moon. I have read the book as many times as Jen has read Johnny's Lion & it has been through all three girls, on every single vacation we have ever taken & many trips to Nana & Papa's house as well! I wonder how many times my Mother has read the book? LOL! I know that Good Night Moon is so well known & probably a cliche that it is my girls fav, but I wanted to be honest! They too have 3 bookshelves full of wonderful books, one shelf for each girl! I have wanted to crack them all open & read a fascinating new story to them for years, but on the rare chance we do read a new tale, we MUST read Good Night Moon after!! Thanks for letting me share!!

My daughter's favorite book right now is "Mud". It is about a boy & girl that get mud on their body parts. She likes "reading" it--as well as a 2 year old can and pointing to her body parts as I read it.

My son, at age 9, prefers to read on his own now but my daughter still snuggles in the crook of my arm for her nightly story. One amazing little gem that we stumbled upon has become a beloved favorite in our house. It's called Farfallina and Marcel. It's a beautiful story about a catapillar and a gosling who become very best friends...and stay that way even in the face of some really big changes. I've read it, as my son would say, "probably a gazillion times', but I still get a little teary eyed. My daughter and I just love it.

Olivia loves Kevin Henkes stories. I would say her favorite is Chrysanthemum, but we also read Julius Baby of the World (your girls would love this, Jenn), Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse & Lilly's Big Day quite a bit. Olivia loves them because all three of those feature adventures the outspoken & very colorful character Lilly, the mouse. :) Mandy
